QUESTION

What should I do ater losing a case against a bad landlord?

Asked on Mar 04th, 2014 on Litigation - Washington
More details to this question:
I moved into a home that premises liabilities and the landlord refused to do the proper repairs that was promised. I went to court to have my rent put into escrow but made it late due to a family emergency. The landlord and I recently went to court and the attorney that represented me was not prepared and didn't even enter in his entry of appearance with the courts. My hearing did not go well and my attorney lost my case to my landlord who was Pro Se. Now I'm fighting an appeal and have made my complain with the Attorney General, a State Delegate and Housing Inspection providing them video and photos of damages the landlord was creating in his property while I was away for work. This landlord also testified defamation of character against me when in fact I'm a federal contractor assigned to the US Department of Justice. I don't know what else to do and I need an attorney that will help me fight my case. This landlord has also done these horrible things to past tenants.

You say something ion your narrative that may be very telling and why you may have lost. You state that you made a late rent payment. Depending upon how late it was, it may be the reason you lost. The Landlord Tenant Act requires that you be current with all your obligations, in order to make a claim against the landlord. I would need to review the case file to make a more definitive response.
