QUESTION

What sort of Attorney should I be looking for?

More details to this question:
I’m reaching out to find the right type of attorney to help me. Very, VERY briefly, I recently discovered that my wife of 15 years had been cheating on me for years. It devastated me and I reacted by focusing my anger on one of the men she’d been sleeping with. I posted defamatory posters in his neighborhood about him and sent them to some of his colleagues. I then DEEPLY regretted these actions, was ashamed of myself for such an awful lapse in decency, and tried to make it right. After initially denying responsibility, I reached out to him two days later, taking full responsibility, met with him in person, committed to doing whatever I could to undo the damage I’d done, reached out to his employer to try and intercept what I’d sent and mitigate the damage I had caused by preemptively taking responsibility for the lies they contained. I just received a letter from his attorney demanding $1,250,000 in damages. I don’t have that. What type of attorney/practice area do I need?

I think you'd need a lawyer who would specialize in Libel, Slander, Defamation (assuming those causes of action were refernced in the demand letter you received).
