QUESTION

What will happen if I didn't get the summon after the due date?

Asked on Nov 27th, 2012 on Civil Litigation - Indiana
More details to this question:
The court says the plaintiff shall serve me before a certain time. Now 7 days have passed and I still didn't receive the summon. I wonder will there be a chance that the plaintiff sent me a summon but I didn't receive it? If this is the case, will this lead to a default judgement? Or if there is anyway to check whether the plaintiff has sent out the summon without contacting him? Thanks

There is always a chance that you have been legally "served" but that somehow the summons did not come to your attention. You can check with the court clerk and see if the plaintiff has filed proof of service. Better yet, get an attorney.
