Who do I sue for sitting in jail for a bad charge I did not commit?

More details to this question:
I sat in jail for over 5 months for a Burglary°2 "violent felony", only because my landlords sister falsely accused me of breaking in to my house. Yes, I used my key to walk in to my own residence and was arrested. By very mean Vestal cops. And it took my landlord over 5 mos to write a statement claiming my innocence and my every right to be on the property. They finally released me from jail..

Unless you're leaving out some important facts, you may have an action for slander against the landlord's sister (and the landlord, if the landlord also lied to the police), if this happened less than a year ago and you can prove you were convicted based only on their false report/ perjured testimony to the police.
