My daughter was visiting a friend in Ashville and within a day was in severe pain with headache, constant vomiting, and neckache. When I heard I told her friend to called an ambulance and get her to the hospital asap as she had never had that kind of pain before. She was very dilusional and although she has suffered with mental illness this was physical. The hospital sent her back to her friends in a taxi with a prescription for pain meds. I told her she needed to get home as soon as possible and get to her local hospital. After 3 days of the symptoms not getting better she left for home only to end up in another North Carolina hospital where she was diagnosed with meningitis that had already reached her brain. I flew to NC from Denver, however the day after I got there she was brain dead after being revived 3 times. How do I get answers from the hospital that sent her home? If I decide to persue this, should the lawyer be from NC or Colorado?
You will need to speak with a North Carolina lawyer since the negligent care occurred in North Carolina. My sincere sympathy on your loss, what a terrible story.
