My wife died on December 1, 2018 supposedly from colon cancer. I spoke to her oncologist who stated "that's wrong!", as the cancer was totally removed, and my wife was on a "prophylactic" chemotherapy to insure that there would be no possible cancer left. The morning before she died, at approximately 2:00 am, she called me, coherently speaking, and said "I'm scared, and the pain is so bad that I have to hang up!" Those were the last words I heard from her. At approximately 11:30, I received a call from a nurse, who, very unemotionally, said "your wife is non-responsive". Not believing what I'd heard, I asked him to repeat it, which he did in the same unemotionally tone. By the time I arrived at the hospital, she was gone. One of the last things they did to her was administer Narcan...she had been in the hospital for 2 days, and was not an opioid abuser... To me it just doesn't seem right! All the local attorneys seem to be afraid of Halifax, as it's so big in Florida.
Hello John,
My condolences to you and your family. I am sorry to hear about the death of your wife.
The issue is not the size of Halifax, it is that it is a Sovereign entity and as such, damages and fees are capped.
Timely providing a Medical Malpractice attorney with the necessary medical records however, aid the process up for you in obtaining representation. Review of her medical records will need to be made to determine if the standard of care was breached by the physician(s) for improperly treating your wife and, if that breach caused her death.
If you are interested in consulting with one of us, you will have to reach out, as attorneys are unable to directly solicit on this forum. Do not delay, as you are already close to the running of the Statute of Limitation for bringing a Medical Malpractice Wrongful Death lawsuit.
