Can I sue a dentist?

More details to this question:
Although dentist did free work. There is extensive damage and I now have to pay $18k to fix what was done and I have to do this. I am literally biting pieces of my cheeks lips and tongue. I am on blood thinners this can be very serious They new this when they told me to go find someone else.
