QUESTION

Can I sue chiropractor for being injured?

Asked on Sep 25th, 2014 on Medical Malpractice - Florida
More details to this question:
I went to a chiropractor for very slight back pain caused by pregnancy. I'm in my twenties and never suffered from anything before. He adjusted my neck forcefully and the trauma caused damage which resulted in occipital neuralgia. I now suffer this very painful chronic condition which has resulted in trips to the ER, specialists, and have to be on numerous medications for pain management. My quality of life has been severely affected and I may or may not get better in the future, doctors don't know for sure. Would possibly even need surgery to decompress the nerve. Can I sue that chiropractor?

Posibbly. BUT you will have to prove the manipulation was the cause, and a value in damages that makes it financially worth pursuing, which may be difficult, unless the injury was immediate and you went to the hospital by ambulance or something like that. Starting point is a written opinion from a doctor establishing the malpractice.
