Can I sue for surgical clips causing pain and protruding out my abdomen?

On 4/19/17 I had abdominal wound debridement surgery and on 7/18/17 I developed an abscess on the scar from that surgery and also over the last month and a half I have had 4 surgical clips protrude through that abscess that were suppose to be permanent. The surgeon refused to do any treatment and stated the clips were not from his surgery. Yes I have had 6 surgeries in that area but I have never had a problem with clips until now. I feel like it could be a case of negligence on his part and would like to sue if possible. I am aware of the lengthy process.
