complications after surgery requiring more surgery

More details to this question:
I had small bowel resection in August 2016. Early December I needed emergency surgery and another resection because of the way the first surgeon rejoined the bowel parts, as stated to me by second surgeon. I'd like to be able to at least recupe expenses and mental stress. Any chance?

You will not be able to recoup anything unless the 2nd surgeon is willing to testify that the 1st surgeon made a mistake in the surgery that was done.
