More details to this question:
My father found out on May 18,2017 that he had a 97% blockage in the carotid artery on the right side. At the same time this was found there was a 56% blockage found on the left side. It was never mentioned. Now I know I'm no Dr but in my opinion a blockage as severe as 97% I feel surgery should have been done immediately. My father turned 77 years old on the 21 of May and did any thing and everything he wanted to do. He was very outgoing. The Dr scheduled surgery for the the 25th. On the 24th my father had a severe stroke. The very next morning when the Dr came in he said the surgery would never be able to be done now. His exact words, I will have to monitor the other side to make sure he gets no blockages there. We found out thru paper work about the other blockage. He still never said one word. Do to the severity of the stroke my father passed away on July 5th of 2017. Please tell me if I can do anything about this or not. Thank you so much

A health care liability lawsuit against the health care provided is a mixture of law and medicine. While I know the law, the medicine part is why we bring in medical experts in cases like this. I can't tell you if your have a case or not until all of the records are gathered together and presented to a medical expert for that expert to review and give an opinion as to whether there was a breach of a standard of care or not and whether that breach was the proxmate cause of your father's death.
