More details to this question:
I am a 66 year old female, East TN resident. I went to my primary care physician on August 1, 2011 for general check up. The doctor told me that all systems were normal. Part of the check up included lab work. Excluded from the comprehensive lab tests was the cholesterol test to determine cholesterol levels. A bad cholesterol count is one of th . On August 12, I suffered a heart attack . I called 911 and was taken to the hospital emergency where I was diagnosed as having a myicardial infarction. Two stents were implanted immediately. Had the primary care doctor caught the abnormal heart rythm an angiogram could have been done and the stents implanted, thus preventing the heart attack and tdamage to my heart. I am now taking 7 heart medications and have a diminshed life style as a result of the heart attack. My cardiologist told me that I may be taking some of the medications for the rest of my life and that I will be more suseptitible to a second heart attack as a result of the first.

I think it is stretch to suggest that a cardiologist should have anticipated a heart attack in a patient with elevated cholesterol. He should certainly have addressed that condition, but even if he had, it probably would not have prevented a heart attack twelve days later. If your theory is that he should have detected an arrhythmia, that is a different story, but the mere fact that one was present when you suffered the heart attack does not mean that it was present during your physician's examination.
