Do I have a case?

More details to this question:
So me and my fiance are in the hospital with our newborn baby girl, who has had low blood sugar since she was born. So naturally the nurses in the baby center here are keeping a close eye on her blood sugar levels. Well, today when my fiance wanted to take a nap to get some of her energy back she had called the nurses in to take our baby to the nursery, telling them that she will need to eat in about an hour, and have her blood sugar taken. So the nurse took her, and we thought that was that. Well about 6-8 hours later we had our daughter back with us, and was getting ready to feed her when they took her blood sugar level and found it to be drastically low. It was at 34, when it was holding steady around 47. When I asked what the last blood test level showed they said it was at a 56, this is pryer to the 34. The 56 was the blood sugar level they had told us a couple hours before we even sent her to the nursery. So I feel the nurse didn't feed her, and am wanting security tapes

I do not think you have a financially viable claim. You can only file a medical malpractice suit if a medical mistake has a significant permanent impact on a patient's health.  Below are some articles you may find helpful.  They are written for a New Jersey audience (where I practice) but the ideas discussed in these articles usually apply in most other jurisdictions as well. The issue of financial viability is discussed in the first two articles.  Click here for an article that discusses the three main questions I ask when deciding whether to investigate a potential medical malpractice case. I will do nothing further to protect or preserve your interests in the absence of any additional discussion with you about this matter. John Ratkowitz, Esq.
