More details to this question:
I am a recovering addict of intravenus use w/ heroin and meth. I was in labor & delivery having my pregnancy induced. This is a non - life threating situation for this proceedure to have taken place. One medical nurse tried three attempts to put I.V. in, was unsuccessful, one anestisiologist came to do a proceedure they use for a last resort situation. (In life threatening emergancies). I am young and unknowleged in medical so i didn't know any better. I did not want him to drill 1 inch into my shin bone but he insisted and said i had no other choice. During this , i am screaming and crying asking if its suppose to hurt he says no. this was unsuccessful and he tried convincing me that he had to do it again. I said NO please try here .( and showed him a place i knew was good. he then tried one attempt and was successful. I feel they treated me with no respect cause i am an addict. The hospital social worker came to make sure i was ok and The head of hosp. to ask me questions bout it.

I am very sorry to hear about this.  I do not know if you would have a case for discrimination.  What I would recommend is that you get in contact with the hospital and make sure you aren't paying for any bills related to the drilling and/or IV attempts.  You might be able to work out something with the hospital where they will pay part of your bills for their treatment of you.   Sorry I can't give you more information but I hope this helps! Best of luck! NOTE:  This response is general in nature and should not be considered legal advice.  No attorney-client relationship exists or is formed by this response.
