QUESTION

Do I have a medical malpractice case?

Asked on Dec 17th, 2015 on Medical Malpractice - Connecticut
More details to this question:
After visiting a walk in clinic for a regular physical for a job opportunity, a doctor stabbed me with a needle while administering the tuberculosis exam. Some of the things he failed to do were: putting on gloves, cleaning my arm before injecting the needle, and asking me to remove my jacket before beginning the procedure. As a result of the incident, I went to the emergency room after feeling out of sorts. They had diagnosed dehydration and low blood sugar. However, ever since the visit to the walk in center, I have had body tremors and heart palpitations, including tightening of the chest and shivers. Could this warrant a malpractice suit?

This could be grounds for a malpractice claim. In order for a malpractice suit to be successful, you will have to demonstrate that the doctor deviated from standards of care, and that those deviations led to your conditions.   This can be complicated and will involve a lot of paperwork, expert witnesses, follow up medical exams and more. Physicians in Connecticut are required to carry malpractice insurance, and these insurance companies are very experienced in defending against claims. Without hiring an experienced malpractice attorney, you don't stand much of a chance. D'Amico, Griffin & Pettinicchi465 Straits TurnpikeWatertown, CT 06795Local # : (866) 848 7077
