My neurosurgeon performed spinal surgery on me to stop a pinched nerve that was affecting my arm , elbow and hand. I agreed to the surgery after therapy did not help and the therapist said my arm and hand muscle was wasting very quickly and therpy was not going to work. My neurosurgeon said my pinch was in my spine based off the MRI and spinal surgery was my only chance of stopping the horrific pain in my arm, elbow and hand. I went forward with the surgery September 2019. The surgery failed to fix the pinched nerve. I later was told that he should have done a nerve test before surgery to verify the location of the actual pinch. If he had done that he would have known that the pinch was in my elbow, caused by the ulnar nerve. This was discovered in December, the correct surgery was scheduled for January 2020. I went 7 months incorrectly diagnosed and now my hand damage may never be normal again. Also during the unnecessary spinal surgery my vocal cord was permanently paralyzed .
