I was schedule for a prophylactic nipple sparing mastectomy. I am 2 weeks post op, when my general surgery came to check on me the following day I looked at the incision as well and asked what happened to my nipples. Her reply was they were there when I finished my part of the surgery. I asked the plastic surgeon what happened she never answered my question. I have asked several time, what happen and get nothing. I have my papers from the hospital, none of the paperwork state removal of the nipple. Was wondering if I have a suit against my plastic surgeon. I still have another procedure to go through with her and I don't want to raise any red flags.
It would appear that your plastic surgeon deviated from the standard of care by removing the nipples without medical justification and without your informed consent. In fact it appears that the plastic surgeon removed them in direct contravention of your intention to preserve the nipples. Based on the information you provided I believe you may have a meritorious medical malpractice case against your plastic surgeon. You should know that there is a two year statute of limitations to bring a medical malpractice lawsuit. I would be willing to review your case if you are interested in pursuing it.
