I am a type 1 diabetic and I was pregnant. I went to the local emergency room because I was feeling bad, I informed the doctor I was pregnant and that I was diabetic. After briefly checking me out he said I had a stomach virus and sent me home, my mom found me about 3 hours later in the bed shaking uncontrollably, rushed me to a different hospital where I was later informed that I was in diabetic kito acidosis and that was daughter was deceased.

I'm sorry this happened to you. How far along was your pregnancy? Were you being followed by a specialist? Regardless, you and your baby should have been thoroughly evaluated by the ER staff and it should have been clear that you were both stable before sending you home. If there was any question, your obstetrician should have been called in to evaluate you. You were obviously high risk because of your diabetes and should have been treated as high risk.
