QUESTION
How do I determine if I should file a malpractice suit?

More details to this question:
On 11/3 I had a hysterectomy via diVinci method. 2 weeks later I was admitted via emergency to the same facility for a 5 day stay. After insisting to the emergency room Dr. that it was more than gas he did an scan and found a mass that was determined to be a blood clot where my uterus was. They attached a drain to me that clotted and caused hemorrhaging resulting in emergency surgery to remove the clot. I did not find out until the followind day that I required 6 units of blood and a few other doctors were called in to assist with keeping me alive. Although I am grateful for their efforts, I am now being billed for the second procedure and stay. I paid for the first procedure in full and now feel that I am being charged again for the same surgery. What was planned for a 2 week recovery turned into 2 months part of which I had to take without pay. I want to know if I have any recourse as far as the medical expenses are concerned. Edith Cashaw

Medical malpractice cases need to be thoroughly investigated and to know whether you have a viable case, an attorney usually has to obtain and review all of the pertinent medical records and consult an expert.
