how long do I have to file a malpractice lawsuit?

More details to this question:
I had a pacemaker put in. I got sicker and . was put in the hospital again. Had sepsis in my heart. Had surgery and pacemaker was removed. Never needed pacemaker. pace maker caused sepsis to get worse.
