QUESTION

I would like to know if there is a case for the below

Asked on Jun 20th, 2012 on Medical Malpractice - New York
More details to this question:
my sister in law fell and broke her leg in 2000, the ER doctor did not repair correctly - she has seen several doctors since and all have tried to repair the initial damage - she has since developed lymphedmia and is now 12 years later scheduled to have half her leg amputated! the emotional, and physical damange this has and will cause is beyond repair - and she is stuck paying all of these bills. Someone - the person who caused this - should have to pay for their mistake - and quite frankly should not be a practicing doctor/surgeon - this should not happen to anyone else!

Update Your Profile
You should contact a local medical malpractice attorney. It sounds like your sister-in-law's claim will be barred by the statute of limitations but sometimes there are exceptions to that defense, and a New York attorney who does malpractice work should be able to tell you whether there's any chance you have a viable claim. Please note that by attempting to answer your question, I am not acting as your attorney. I will do nothing further to protect or preserve your interests in the absence of any additional discussion with you about this matter. John Ratkowitz, Esq.
