More details to this question:
My brother went to the ER with severe neck pain. He was admitted and given pain medication which did nothing. He has had previous cervical spine surgery and plates and screws are in. They did not do an MRI and the pain worsened and he left to make appt with a neurosurgeon. He then returned to ER 2 days later with severe neck and arm pain. He was admitted at 5:30pm on 6/29. No MRI was done until next day at 2pm. A large abscess was found. At 4pm paralysis occurred immediately. Emergency surgery was performed. He is now in ICU postop day 2 with minimal movement. If an MRI was done on first admission, they would have found abscess and removed. I am beside myself and do not know what to do

this sounds like a case where you have a good idea of what went wrong medically . It doesn't sound like you can do much more medically. Legally the records of the hospital need to be looked at .
sometimes a partial or full recovery occurs. sometimes not. It seems to be too soon to tell which.
what are the doctors telling the family?
we cant fix the doctors mistake but we can help fix the legal mess that follows.
