QUESTION

What are my options when multiple doctors are involved?

Asked on Jan 16th, 2020 on Medical Malpractice - Florida
More details to this question:
I underwent an upper lung lobectomy for primary cancer a year ago. The thoracic surgeon may not have repaired the fascia or reattached the muscle while closing the incision. My pre-existing breast implant had since become "capsulated" and was sucked into the intrathoracic space. I became aware of this first via CT scan as f/u for the dx of CA. I took the CT report/scan to a plastic surgeon's office I was seeing, asking that he see the CT before I had a scheduled removal/replacement of the breast implants. This surgeon did not view the CT scan which showed the implant in the lung area until mid surgery, realized he could not remove the implant or complete the agreed on surgery. He did a bilat. brst. reduction and removed the other implant. In f/u appt. told me there was "an open whole left in my chest wall so he could not place an implant. Now I am looking at future surgeries, one to remove the "migrated" implant from the lung area with mesh repair and a breast corrective surgery.

Dear Christy,    I am sorry to hear about the ordeal which you have suffered.   The answer to your question can only be sought by request and review of your medical records to determine if the standard of care was breached by the physician, what is required to correct the problem and what magnitude of damage with which you will be left.    Consequently, if you are interested in consulting with one of us, you will have to reach out, as attorneys are unable to directly solicit on this forum.   Do not delay, as the Statute of Limitation in general (there are exceptions) for bringing a Medical Malpractice lawsuit can run as early as 2 years from the date of the medical error(s).
