1 year and 11 months ago I was at fault in a car accident where the other person had minor injuries. I am worried that I am being sued as the statute of limitations is 2 years in Oregon. I have not been served but I am concerned that there may be a public notice that I am unaware of. Is there a way to check public notices in Oregon?
You can contact the court clerk in the county in which the accident happened, and inquire as to whether any party has sued you in your name. Just because you have not been served, doesn't mean the action has not been filed. In most states, parties have a few months up to three usually in order to serve a defendant in an action that has been timely filed.
