Hi, I was involved in a car accident about a year ago and now been summons. The damages that was reviewed was 700 dollars. The attorney was asking for 20K and then now I'm summoned for 15K. He does not have evidence of the damages from the auto insurance. I presented pictures of the damage to his car along with my car insurance Geico. The lawyer did not even ask for evidence and just automatically demand the liability coverage. My concern is that I do not want to be held liable for any thing. Can this be settled with the car insurance right away if I agree? If they deny his case can he still come and pursue me? The accident happened in the state of CT.
You should turn this over to your insurance company, Geico. They will hire a lawyer for you. If the Geico lawyer believes that there is a risk that you could have personal financial exposure, you should then hire a private attorney.
