Asked on Apr 22nd, 2015 on Automobile Accidents - Virginia
More details to this question:
I had taken a liability auto insurance from state Il for 6 months paying full amount in advance. Changed the state to VA after two months to continue college. As the stay is exceeding more than 2 months in VA changed my car registration. But didnot inform this to my insurance company . Recently few days back had an accident which is a minor one no injuries to any one at all. Cop has given me summons saying according to state law its my mistake. I had given all the details of accident to my insurance company. And I came to know that my insurance company is not licensed in VA. My policy is active for 1 more month. know what would happen to my claim. Can the insurance company still cover my claim.

Update Your Profile
Your auto insurance should cover you no matter in which state a claim occurs.  If your insurance company was aware that you were now residing in VA, then the claim should be covered.  You might want to also direct this question to an attorney who deals with insurance coverage issues.  Good luck with this matter.
