Can CMS track my medical expenses?

Just received letter from CMS want to track medical expenses paid by medicare in order to finalize my settlement.

I'm not sure about your use of the word "track". But, the job of CMS is to determine the amount spent by Medicare to pay your medical expenses stemming from the injury for which you are making a claim. This is necessary so that Medicare can recover its money.

Yes, they can and they do. They will require repayment from the personal injury case for any treatment rendered out of it. You have to deal with them as they have a "superlien" on your case. Sign up for my medicare.gov and you can log in to see how much they want to be repaid. Good luck.
