Can I sue my 12 year old daughters middle school?

More details to this question:
This is the situation. My daughter was gone from school on a medical leave the week before spring break. While she was gone another student borrowed her cello without asking and broke it. Her teacher knew that this other student broke it and then told my daughter that she would need $200 to get it fixed. I went in this same day and told him the situation and he said he would take care of it, and in the mean time my daughter could borrow another one. Now Fast forward 3 weeks. There is a festival about 30 minutes away that the kids have been practicing for, for the entire year. Parents were asked to help and mind you only 3 parents showed up total and 2 of them were me and my husband. We were asked to take all the cellos up and we did, everything was checked and we went on our way. As we arrive my daughter informs me that since all the cellos were gone from the school she was going to be sharing with someone, so she asked around and was told no my the fellow cello players. I was with her when we asked the teacher what the plan would be and told my daughter in front of me to do what she needed to do.. So we asked the band lead and was told that be taken care of yet again. As we waited for my daughter orchestra to play we noticed immediatly that my daughter was not on stage. While we saw them change out players for the bass not at all for the cellos. After their perfomance I found my daughter who completly broke down and was very upset. They sent the other parent ( we do not know why) back 30 miles to retrieve a cello that was locked up in a closet. During their lunch students asked why their were no soda and chips, and the teacher told them that it was all because the other parent had to leave for a new cello for my daughter. (This was not brought up to us at all.) She was compensated $20. After the teacher made the comment the other students were mad and calling my daughter names and bullying her. I wanted to leave the insturments behind and just take my daughter home

School is immune from suit except gross negligence. This a lesson from the school of hard knocks not a Court.

I don't see a viable claim in here and it wouldn't be worth suing over even if there were.
