Took my car to an auto shop to get a remote start installed, they installed it and the next days, the car broke down. I took my vehicle back and my family and I had to wait outside the shop ALL day for them to find out my car's power train control module (computer) had been fried due to them installing the remote start. They had my car for over three weeks and the whole time I had to keep calling to try and figure out what was going on with my vehicle since nobody was keeping me updated. When the manager finally called me to tell me it was ready, he then also informed me that my car had been broken into. When I picked my car up there were personal items missing as well as damages to the inside. I come to look for the manager. I have waited for 14 days, after the break in, they told me it happened and then said there is nothing he can do about it. I did not sign any paper work when they took the car back in to fix it, so, they should be liable for damages? Also after my car was supposedly "fixed" I had to turn around within 10 minutes of driving home because my engine light was on again and the remote start was not working. They told me to bring my car back the next day, they fixed the remote start but my engine light is still on and I have to take my car back again for them to diagnose and fix the problem. Please what can I do! Also I live 35-45min away from this place and have a family. This has been a huge inconvenience for us and actually cost my husband some hours and money at work.
You can sue them in small claims in the county where they are located, up to 5000 they are liable for any damage to your car while it is in their custody. Get you a mechanci who knows what they did wrong or did not do. Your testimony wont work very well. Ain't no way you can prove anything.
