I was involved in a car accident. I was driving a rental. I have come to USA from some other country few days back only to work here. I dont have SSN or US driving license as of now. I took rental on my native country driving license only and while making reservation for renting the car i had told them that i am consultant for xxx company and is there any corporate discount for company xxx. They gave good discounts and also told me LDW and LIS is included in this deal as the corporate i am consultant for has a rental deal with them. Now when i am involved in an accident the rental company is asking me to prove that i was in rental for business whereas i never told them that i wanted car on rent because of business. Now the other company is after me for claim. There was no police complaint filed at the time of accident and also there are no witnesses to the accident. Please suggest what should be done here.
Yes, there can be legal action against you. The question is whether as a practical matter the other person (or their insurance company) decided to pursue you. If you can afford to pay some amount for a settlement that would be your best option. Good Luck,
