QUESTION

Do I need to put on decals on glass walls?

Asked on Sep 30th, 2013 on Personal Injury - New York
More details to this question:
I'm wondering if I need to put decals on the glass walls of the salon I am opening up. They're not so clear that I think someone would walk into one, but I also don't want to be sued if someone tries to take advantage.

It would be a good idea.

Better safe than sorry; if you think there's any chance of someone injuring himself then you should use decals or a warning sign.

It would be helpful if anyone were hurt, why don't you take a look at the building code and see if there is anything and why not talk to the building inspector about the issue.

If the glass blends across the whole face, it is best to put something on the glass to designate it is not an opening.

Interesting point. Mixed results, but, in my opinion, to play it safe, put potted plants in front of any clear glass. It is pretty, and it will prevent people from bumping into the glass.

More importantly you need to have a CGL insurance policy a Comprehensive General Liability business policy. They usually do not cost very much and will cover you for accidents on your premises so you don't have to worry about getting sued for things like that. Ask the agent about coverage for things like the manicurist causing personal injury to a customer or one of the beauticians burning someone's scalp or the hair color coming out horribly wrong on the day of your customer's wedding.

I think you have answered your own question. Check with your local code enforcement authority to find out if the decals are required. Regardless, it sounds like a good idea. BTW, is it getting sued that worries you, or injuring one of your customers?
