Hello, I am seeking legal representation for a personal injury civil lawsuit arising from a felony assault. I am the victim in a violent incident that occurred in Forsyth County, Georgia, on February 28, 2025. During this incident, I was assaulted multiple times with a hammer to the head and stabbed, resulting in serious injuries and significant medical treatment. I am seeking to pursue a civil action against the defendant for medical expenses, personal injury, pain and suffering, and related damages. A related criminal case is currently in progress (State of Georgia vs. the Defendant). The defendant was arrested and is currently out on bond. The case has not yet been indicted; however, I am actively working with the Victim Witness Advocate and the Prosecutor’s Office, and the matter is expected to be presented to the Grand Jury in February 2026. I agree with the point Mr. Black is making; what will be the source of payment to compensate you for your injuries/damages? From your synopsis, it sounds like your damages are substantial. I assume the defendant's story would differ from yours, but assuming liability (fault) is admitted and damages are proven, there still has to be someone with the ability to pay you for it to be worthwhile and make sense to pursue the claim. That "someone" would usually be an insurance company that migh provide coverage for premises liability for a mall or apartment complex, for example.
If you can provide more specifics of how and where the injuries happened, it would help to evaluate the claim.

It can be very difficult to find an attorney willing to take an assault case on a contingency fee if the only defendant is the perpetrator, unless that individual has substantial assets that make recovery realistic. However, if the assault occurred on a business premises and the business failed to provide adequate security, you may have a viable negligent‑security claim. In that situation, you are far more likely to find an attorney interested in representing you.
