QUESTION

Hit a deer almost a month ago.

Asked on Sep 06th, 2016 on Automobile Accidents - Wisconsin
More details to this question:
My insurance co. Progressive., decided since I had no blood, hair or feces on my vehicle...that I did not hit a deer! So consequently I have been hit with an at-fault collision vs. a comprehensive claim and not posted on my record. I did file a complaint with State Office of the Insurance Commisioner. Any recourse here? Obviously in addition my truck is not repaired yet. Thanks

If you hit a deer, there should be visible damage to your vehicle; take photographs of the damage and send to your insurance company. You should also take the vehicle in for an estimate on the body damage caused to your vehicle. If it was reported to the police or the DNR, get a copy of the report and send to the insurance company as well. If they still refuse to honor your claim and if the damage is under $10,000, consider filing a small claims lawsuit.
