I signed a document stating he could represent myself and my fiance. The insurance company has contacted him on several occasions but he hasn't responded. I've contacted him but still no response. I'm ready to move forward and get back to my daily routine. I've been missing work going to these physical therapy appointments he recommended but my bills are starting to pile up n I need to go back to work. What should I do. Oh and I'm really not aware of what the documents said besides he will represent myself and my fiance.
I was actually planning to write a blog about this at our web site. You have signed a contingency contract with your attorney and have agreed to pay the attorney 1/3 of your settlement; if you are unhappy with your attorney, you have every right to fire your attorney and hire a new lawyer to take over your case; you do not pay another 1/3 to the new attorney; instead, the same 1/3 gets split between the two attorneys, so you are really out anything by deciding to switch attorneys.
