QUESTION

How long after an arbitration decision will I receive my money?

Asked on Apr 07th, 2014 on Personal Injury - Alabama
More details to this question:
I had a personal injury case where another at fault driver hit me. At fault was never in question just an amount. At arbitration both sides agreed to $8,000. My attorney said she was just waiting to make sure there were no medical liens. It has been almost 6 weeks, well 28 business days and still nothing. My attorney is not even returning my calls so I know what is going on.

It takes time to get Medicare and Medicaid lien information.

Getting the payment and disbursement can take several months. Since you continue asking your attorney the same question, they have need to response because there is nothing new. How would feel if they charged you for each call?

If Kaiser or MediCare are involved, it can take forever. Hospitals can also take a while. Otherwise, you should have money by now.

It depends on whether there was a time limit stated in the arbitration agreement or order. It's not unusual for it to take a while to deal with medical lienholders. If necessary, make an appointment with your lawyer to discuss it.
