QUESTION

How long could it take for my reconsideration to come through?

Asked on Nov 20th, 2012 on Personal Injury - Montana
More details to this question:
I was denied on the first application and then my psychiatrist faxed in a report 4 weeks ago after I was hospitalized for psychiatric observation. Will that be in my favor? I could not qualify for a category for Adult Disability.

While I enjoy answering questions for lay people it's always difficult to answer when there is not enough information to know what they are talking about. Is this a workers' compensation case, one before the social security administration for public disability or a private disability policy? Without that information there is no relevant answer or advice.

It takes 90 days to 6 months for reconsideration. I cannot say whether you will be approved. You should get an attorney and request a hearing if you are denied.

I assume that you are talking about Social Security. If so, it takes as much time as it takes for the Reconsideration. You are dealing with the government. You just have to learn that there are many other people in the world who are seeking benefits from the government, and everyone just has to wait.

Not sure what you are talking about but if Social Security it could be a long time. the government always takes forever to act on anything. You normally must be totally disabled to do any work to get disability. Just being sick or hospitalized is not a basis for giving you government money.

Reconsideration review takes about as long as the initial application. Three months is a low average.
