How will an insurance settlement be divided?

Asked on Feb 04th, 2014 on Wrongful Death - Florida
More details to this question:
I am receiving a million dollar settlement from one defendant on my late husbands case. he died on the job along with another man. i have been told that bc its an insurance settlement i have to split it half with the other family even though we dont have the same lawyer, then 40% to my lawyer, my husband also had 3 other children. how will the rest of the money be divided? is it a certain amount no matter what or are their factors like if we were living in separate houses? will there be a hearing to decide who gets what? also i have singed over legal representation to his mother so i have had no say in anything.
