QUESTION

I cancelled the tag on my car without physically surrendering it

Asked on Feb 10th, 2021 on Automobile Accidents - Florida
More details to this question:
I cancelled the tag on my car without physically surrendering it because the car was not in my possession due to a no contact order between me and my ex husband. My ex husband then hit someone in the car. They are now suing me and I have a $5,000 hold on my license for not having insurance on a car that wasn't supposed to be operated. Can I sue him for the $5,000 and damages to the other people's car?

This is a family law issue. Cancellin the tag does not address the legal liability for the vehicles operation. You need to have your family law lawyer address this ASAP.
