Late June I was side swiped by an 18 wheeler truck. As the accident was happening I phoned 911 to report the driver who had not not only hit me but continued to drive away. I was not severely injured but my car had significant damage. I understand that would limit my claim on medical bills. The attorney I hired first said that she was unable to locate the truck and there would ultimately be nothing much she could do. I suggested she refer to the emergency call to track the truck information given at time the 911 call was made. She went on to say that it would cost an extra 60.00 to try another route which I agreed to. Finally the truck was found but the company was not taking responsibility and wanted to look further into the accident. My attorney is suggesting that I go through my insurance co to go after the company to get paid. says she wouldn't want to take what little I may get using her services. Should get a second opinion and/or go through my insurance co like she suggest?
My opinion is that you should follow her advice and go through your insurance company to get your car fixed and medical bills paid if your have med pay under your policy.
