QUESTION

I was rear-ended today, what should I do?

Asked on Sep 19th, 2013 on Automobile Accidents - Virginia
More details to this question:
Earlier today I was rear ended while stopped at a traffic light and pushed into the car in front of me. Immediately following the crash I was experiencing some pain in both my back and neck but declined medical treatment at the scene due to the fact the pain seemed to be subsiding as I walked around. The other reason I declined is because I no longer have health insurance and did not want to incur any necessary charges. While my car did sustain a great deal of damage, I was able to drive home. Now, some 10 hours after the accident my pain seems to be getting worse. I have already contacted both my insurance company and the at fault driver's insurance company to file the claim. What should my next step be?

If you were injured to the extent that you might need ongoing medical treatment, I highly suggest that you consider hiring an attorney who handles motor vehicle collision matters.  This type of lawyer will be able to explain to you all of your rights under the law.  Your insurance company and the at fault driver's insurance company might not explain to you all of your rights under the law but if you hire an attorney to represent you, that lawyer will look out for your interests.  Good luck with this matter.
