After boarding the public transit subway and sitting down, I settled my baggage to the left side of my seat, protruding a little into the aisle. Before the subway left the station there were other passengers boarding as well, including an upper middle aged woman around 65. She accidently tripped over my baggage and fell. Other passengers immediately made sure that she was fine, and she was eventually given a seat. I did not actively make sure that she is fine because I was unsure of what actually happened, but later made the assumption that she most likely tripped over my items. However judging from the fact that she was talking to someone else shortly, I concluded that her injuries, if any, shouldn't be too serious. In this case, will I or my parents be liable her injuries, included her medical bills etc? Other things I will like to mention include: There are not baggage storage area on the subway. The aisles were moderately crowded. The subway never made any announcements to remind passengers of safety such as saying "please watch your steps when boarding the train". In fact, they urged passengers to board quickly by saying "please move to the back of the train" To me, it seems like if the woman was to sue, she would sue the public transit system by claiming their negligence of passenger safety and lack of space and equipment. However, just to put myself in a mental state of assurance, will I be held responsible in any ways or have to pay money of any sort? Note: I am a minor of less than 18 of age.
I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like an unfortunate accident that happens all the time. Not your fault as it doesn't sound like there was much you could do.
