QUESTION

Is it possible to change attorneys once the demand letter has been sent?

Asked on Jul 27th, 2017 on Automobile Accidents - Florida
More details to this question:
I currently have an attorney working on my car accident for almost 11 months now. I suffered injuries and had to have two shoulder surgeries and no one has currently addressed my back, as of yet. Oh plus I can't walk without the use of a walker. Any way, I have only met with my attorney one time....they sent the demand letter, but I believe they never included my lost wages even though I had told them numerous times over the phone, plus they never asked how much I made an hour. Well 3/31/17 after my first operation I was let go from my job. So....for some "gut" reason, I feel that I am not being represented. I already have collections agency calling, I lost my property, etc. Next it will be my car and my house....please help Can I get a new lawyer to replace my current lawyer once the demand letter has been sent?

Yes but if u discharge your attorney, he is entitled to a charging lien for work done on any settlement proceeds recovered in an eventual settlement. If all he has done is written a demand letter the lien most likely will be de minimus. That being said ask him for the file to see the work he has done and proceed accordingly.
