no auto insurance and collision

More details to this question:
I was hit in the rear bumper on sunday 6-19, person who hit me called insurance, i called his insurance on monday to get claim info, coincidently i was told his policy is "inactive" due to lack of payment as of the date of the collision, as of today 6-24 he has not responded to his insurance companys attempts to call or email. what is my next move i just want to have the car repaired. there were no injuries.

Sorry to hear about the accident. If the vehicle owner did not have insurance, see if the vehicle driver was different. If so, see if the vehicle driver had insurance coverage. If not, see if your own vehicle has collision coverage. If so, you may be able to get the car repaired. If you have a deductible, you can send a demand to the at-fault party to see if they will reimburse you. Your own insurance may also try to subrogate, meaning they may go after the at-fault party themselves to get their money back. You can see if they would include your deductible as well in their efforts. If you had no coverage, and the at-fault party has no coverage, then you can try to work it out with the person directly. If that fails, you can file a lawsuit against the at-fault party to try and get your money back.
