police report changed

Asked on Jul 26th, 2015 on Automobile Accidents - New Jersey
More details to this question:
Vehicle (1) was parked and damage to driver door occurred when vehicle (2) parked next to vehicle (1) opened door and slammed their door vehicle (2) and caused damage. Police came wrote a police report, but was changed to property damage. Would like to know why? Thank you.

Because the damage did not occur as the result of a car accident.  Its the same kind of damage as if a tree branch feel on your car, or something like that.  It was not related to an accident that occur while the vehicle was being driven.
