Private information removal from a website posted without my consent and knowledge

Asked on May 29th, 2014 on Personal Injury - New York
More details to this question:
I have come across that an online website named has posted my profile without my consent and knowledge .Actually I discovered after searching with google on my name results. The company has stolen my profile from another online account that was active till December 2012.That online company does not transmit to 3rd parties those data Those private data are my full legal name, employer, occupation and education I have contacted the website and they refuse to remove. They suggest me to follow their remove profile instruction. Actually in their remove profile policy they require a subscription fee to be paid regularly in order the profile to be removed. Once someone stops to pay the fee the profile is restored on line again(In a way it could be said that this is a kind of blackmail). Please note that I have not given my consent neither was registered with them. I would like to ask if this is legal and what steps can be made in order the personal data be removed thank you

I am sorry to hear about this - it sounds like a privacy law issue. Given we are a medical malpractice law firm we would probably not be the best avenue for help. I suggest a privacy law attorney who would absolutely help you more with regards to this issue. Thank you for contacting us. Dr. Guy Regev
