QUESTION

Should I file a malpractice Suit on my lawyer?

Asked on Dec 16th, 2012 on Automobile Accidents - Washington
More details to this question:
How do I know if I have a case? I hired him for a car accident and now he just decided to not be my lawyer anymore. He left me with a little over a month until the Statute of limitations is going to expire. He also wants to get paid, so he is going to file a lein against my insurance. No one wants to take my case because its so close to the statute so I'm going to have to do it alone. I know this is wrong, but is it illegal?

A lawyer may withdraw from a case for "good cause" if the withdrawal can be accomplished without material adverse effect on the interests of a client.  The Rules of Professional Responsibility require that the attorney  allow time for the employment of other counsel (See RPC 1.16). This response is general in nature and is not legal advice. No attorney client relationship is formed by it. Further, the response does not represent the opinions or views of LexisNexis or its affiliated companies.
