The waiver of liability she signed may keep her from being successful in a lawsuit, but it would depend a lot on the nature of the waiver, if it was too broad, if it didn't encompass the injury she suffered or in the manner she suffered it.  She should probably meet with a lawyer who can examine the waiver and see if she can be helped.  Be careful though, the statute of limitations will bar her from recovering at all if she waits too long to begin a suit.
