Trucker personal injury in another state

hello, I have a ?..My husband is a truck driver, he was driving for a company( small co.) and was asleep at a truck stop in Virginia, when a driver for a national co. hit him. It happened 10 months ago, and now dealing with medical problems. He drives for someone else, never had medical problems before, always healthy..What should he do?? He never signed anything. we live in wa state. Thank You.
