You should talk with a Florida personal injury lawyer. We'd be happy to talk to you about all of this. There are doctors who will treat you while all of this gets worked out. The most important thing is to get well and document your injury. Slip and fall cases are tough as they are highly defended. fault depends on what caused the fall. Essentially, insurance carriers try to negotiate every dollar they can, because every $100 means millions in the end to the Board of Directors. Even in soft tissue injuries, those tissues stretch and scar, or cause corresponding pressure on nerves in the spinal cord, leaving behind permanent problems for some. I have had clients need surgeries years later because of a bulging disk and have their entire world collapse for what seemed inconsequential at the time. Insurance companies want you to settle as soon as possible and treat as little as possible. Attorneys matter. They change their gameplan when a lawyer is involved. For that reason - and the misinformation and "fast food" lack of service by TV lawyers and referral services- is why people should consult lawyers who take the time like on sites like this. Because of the economy, more lawyers are jumping into personal injury and should stick to what they know. Personal injury law REQUIRED knowledge about medical science and biomechanics (the forces on a body in a wreck) far greater and more specific than you'd think. The other side has doctors and millions on their side to say nothing is wrong or fight the claim. My clients and potential clients are always free to email me- jmp@knowthelawyer.com. You need to medically document all your injuries with a qualified medical specialist as soon as possible and retain an experienced personal injury attorney. It is important you see a specialist in the area of your injury. When I say report all your injuries, I mean for example, don't just say back pain if you are also having pain radiating from the back into your buttock, or legs. This is the type of discussion a personal injury lawyer should have with you. It is not about saying something which is not true.  It is about how to explain your injuries in a way that does not leave anything out. As stated, in addition to the right doctor, you need to retain an experienced personal injury lawyer.  That does not mean one the the TV advertising types. Spending money on TV commercials, no matter how good they sound, has very little to do with quality representation. Your lawyer can work with you in finding a qualified physician, or discussing with you any potential issues with the specialist you are choosing to see.  Do not give any type of recorded statement to the store and its claims adjusters without having a lawyer to consult with. These companies are experts in twisting around your words. There is much more I can say, but without additional facts of the accident, your injuries and your medical history, it is hard to do in a short email reply. I typically speak with clients over the phone and later in person. Be wary of firms where the only contact you will have is with an investigator. Hope all works out for your.
