I was hurt at work. I went home after work, came back the next day and couldn't walk. My boss sent me to the ER. I thought that my injury might have been from a motorcycle wreck I had a few months prior that probably caused it. I thought claiming L&I might be dishonest since I was just walking and all the sudden my leg gave out. I have been out of work for 7 weeks now due to doctors not being able to figure out what's wrong. My vacation and sick leave have been exhausted. When I initially went to the ER (left work upon my boss saying "go to the ER") I told them, "yes I was at work but I was just walking, had a bit of back pain, and I lost 90% or strength in my quadriceps. So I don't think this is a work related injury." I am in a Union but the pay for disability is $27/day. I make roughly $260/day. This is nowhere near me even being able to make a mortgage payment. What should I do? I'm still waiting on doctors to find a diagnosis and treatment. I've had X-rays, 2 MRI's, a Myelogram, Nerve Conductive test, Chiropractor and physical therapy. Bills are piling up even though insurance is covering some. I have good faith in my employer to help out a bit but I don't expect them to keep paying me when I cannot return to work. I have great communication with them but I cannot do my job (which is physical) with the injury. Thank you in advance for some help. I know this is a free site, but I'm at a loss.
